City records document 65 injury collisions within 150 meters of this intersection in the last five years, including two fatalities. For context, this 150-meter radius differs from the 80-meter core used for the Danger Index, so figures should not be directly reconciled. This intersection shows more reported harm than 99 percent of San Francisco intersections, earning an F grade on the Danger Index. Please note, this index ranks reported harm, not risk per crossing, as it lacks exposure normalization. Over the past three years, 86 street-condition 311 reports were filed for this location, covering defects, sidewalks, curbs, signs, streetlights, and blocked sidewalks. An automated visual audit flagged a vehicle turning conflict zone in Street View, which city records corroborate with five pedestrian crossing collisions in five years. City records also show three 311 reports in 12 months for inadequate street lighting and three for poor curb or sidewalk condition, though these were not observed in the visual audit. I urge you to fund Continental crosswalks, corner daylighting, and a leading pedestrian interval at this intersection. This vital upgrade is estimated to cost $250,000 to $350,000 and could be supported through the Caltrans Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).
